Resident Evil is Officially Bringing Back Jill Valentine

A new release in the Resident Evil franchise is bringing franchise fan favorite Jill Valentine back.

A newResident Evilrelease coming later in September will see the return of fan-favorite character Jill Valentine. Jill Valentine has been a part of theResident Evilfranchise since the very beginning, serving as one of the two playable characters in the OG game. Since Jill's appearance in the originalResident Evil, she has popped back up in various releases over the years.

Jill Valentine was the star ofResident Evil 3: Nemesis, and she was also one of the playable characters in theResident Evil 1remake. Valentine played an integral role in theResident Evil 5story and has appeared in variousREspin-offs and crossovers over the years, as well as theResident Evil 3remake in 2020. As one ofResident Evil's most popular characters, it's no surprise that Jill has also appeared in otherREmedia, like the live-action movies, books, and more. Now an upcomingResident Evilrelease will see Valentine featured yet again, alongside other fan favorites.

When is the Resident Evil: Death Island Comic Coming Out?

A comic adaptation ofResident Evil: Death Islandis coming on September 29, courtesy of Titan Comics. The release is an adaptation of the CGI film of the same name, which is set in the continuity of the video games.Resident Evil: Death Islandsees Jill reunitedwith the likes of Chris and Claire Redfield, Rebecca Chambers, and Leon S. Kennedy as they deal with a new bioterrorism threat. The movie was relatively well-received by fans and critics, and offers one of the most stacked casts out of anyResident Evilproject. How it translates to the manga/comic world remains to be seen, but regardless, it's nice to get a new project featuring Jill Valentine.

Of course, mostResident Evilfans are going to be more concerned with whether Jill is returning to the video games or not, and that remains to be seen. At the time of this writing, no newResident Evilvideo game project with Jill Valentine has been announced, and if one does materialize, it will likely be years down the line. ThenextResident EvilgameisResident Evil Veronica, a remake ofResident Evil Code: Veronica, which will feature Claire and Chris as the main playable characters, barring any unexpected changes to the source material.

Rumors and leaks have suggested that the nextResident Evilgame afterVeronicais aResident Evil Zeroremake, which will presumably release in 2028. It's also been suggested thatResident Evil 10is in development, as is a second remake of the originalResident Evilgame. If the latter ever materializes, it will likely be the next time that Jill Valentine is featured in aResident Evil game — unless RE10comes out first and she's the star.

As it stands, the last time Jill was in aResident Evilgame was the poorly-receivedResident Evil Re:Verse, which has since been shut down.Re:Verse's shutdownmeans the latest games fans can see Jill in are theResident Evil 3remake and theResident Evil: Resistanceasymmetrical multiplayer game.
